Hey Tom,
First let me say how much I enjoy your website and message board. I found your site about a year ago but didn't realize you had a message board until a couple of months ago. Wish I had known about it a long time ago. Keep up the good work.
On to the
bike. I have a 1970 H1 I purchased about a year and a half ago. It was mostly
stock then, just a set of chambers. (Dencos I think)
Since then
I have put in tapered steering stem bearings, added the clubman handle bars
and changed out the mirrors. I raised the forks in the clamps and improved
the handling. Added a modified left hand caliper up front and swapped the
fork legs so the calipers are behind the fork. Ran stainless
lines when
I added the second disk and caliper. The solo seat is a Team Vansen (might
be Hansen) "big butt" race seat from Airtech. Tailight is the stock piece
recycled. The green paint is rattle can Kawasaki Green frame paint (everybody's
on a budget). Stickerpoint stickers and custom white circles basically complete
the cosmetics for now. I added an electronic speedometer to the bike and removed
the stock speedo, that's what the zip
ties on the right fork are for. The rearsets came
with the bike and bole on to the rear frame loops. In the engine I replaced
the plastic clucth
throwout with a later model metal one. The bike came
with brand new Branett
springs and plates which
took a while to break in but are great now. New tires and chain and a lot
of TLC are about the only other things I've done. In 18 months and about 6000
miles the only parts I've had to replace are fluids. Cleaned the K&N air
filters and constantly retighten things.
Future mods include new shocks or a monoshock, cartridge emulators or
late model forks, a custom aluminium dash (already fabricated) tocenter mount
the tach. A white stripe the length of the bike and a full on race fairing
from Airtech. I'm in the process of modifying some newer foot controls as
rearsets. Clip ons, new headlight brackets and an interim cafe fairing.
Currently I'm running premix since my oil pump is out, but I intend to put
the pump back on as soon as I get it fixed.
Well I think
that covers everything. Again great board and site, keep up the good work
and let me know what you think.
