Knut,
I am not using them on a triple ( my 72 h1b is currently burnt to a crisp !) They got the fire out just before it got to the tires , but everything else is gone. Anyway I can take the ohm readings off the polaris coils and Starfire could tell us if they will work . I did kick around the idea of mounting the whole stator on but the pickup would not fit into the h1b case. Let me know if you want the readings .
Tom

Don't worry Tom, there's plenty of them on ebay that can be sent overseas.

Yeah but - :D It's terrible when the cost to ship is more than the cost of the item 8O

The coils ohm out at 0.3 ohms across + to -. They measure 1.250 ( 31.75mm) square and 1.500 ( 38 mm )tall . They mount with a 6mm bolt . Hope this helps.

Thanks. Just waiting for Starfire to chime in here. Ohm's etc are alien language for me so someone in the know has to confirm if these can be used with his iggy boxes.

Yes Knut, I have just done a small experiment using the similar H1A CDI with a homewound coil substitute measuring .2 ohm, so there is a significant safety margin... they will work fine. What I dont know is what the final HT (plug voltage) will be. I suspect it will be megavolts as I dont know what voltage these coils originally saw. But, at this stage, it looks promising enough for you to go ahead with it. The voltage across the plugs will remain the same, that is set by the breakdown voltage across the gap, but if too high, the current reduces and can cause missing and other problems. Try it, you wont fry the CDI, and if they are cheap, well worth looking at. :D

Hello Tom. I wonder if you could ohm test these coils from the plug lead terminal to either one of the others? It will read fairly high, but will give me a rough idea of the turns ratio. Thanks.

Knut, I dont know how progress is going for you. I have recently had occasion to play with some cheap chinese moped coils that are very small, and work fine. Loons is also getting some for a Starfire install on his H1, he can also update you if you would like.

I have the sled coils but they are not installed yet, neither is the iggy box... I'm struggling with time. My two kids, my house, and my wife (not least!!!) require most of my time. Just that thing with the rear wheel took me a week as I get interrupted all the time.

I also need a little help with installing the coils and box as I'm "allergic" to everything electric but a friend who's good at this has promised to help me when we find time. Was also thinking that replacing the coils and installing the iggy box at the same time is perhaps not the best idea regarding any potential troubleshooting. Don't know which would be best to do first.
